Can I claim the FTC and FEIE together?
When an expat may use Form 2555 and Form 1116 in the same return, and why the same income cannot receive both benefits.
A taxpayer may use Form 2555 and Form 1116 in the same return when the forms apply to different income or related foreign taxes. Foreign tax connected to income excluded under the FEIE cannot also be used to claim a credit for that same excluded income. The allocation should be documented before either form is prepared.
